One bone of contention in the GM debate is exactly what issues are relevant. We therefore want to make the selection of experts as fair and as independent as possible within the time constraints we have.
We’ve recruited 3 people:
Caroline Allen – Veterinary surgeon and Green Party Policy Committee member working on science, food and agriculture policy.
James Wilsdon – Professor of Science and Democracy – Science and Technology Policy Research, University of Sussex
David Baulcombe – Regius Professor of Botany, Royal Society Research Professor, University of Cambridge
Over this weekend we’ll give them a shortlist of experts who have been nominated and are willing to take part and the panel will be asked to choose who gets selected. They’ll also be asked to provide some other suggestions if they are not happy with the shortlist.
